Vredeoord has a rich history, which is symbolic for the history of Eindhoven. The name Vredeoord refers to the Vredeoord estate. The original heathland was wooded in the nineteenth century and it became an estate: “Landgoed Vredeoord”. At the start of the twentieth century, a brick factory was established on the Vredeoord estate and later the global concern Philips established its headquarters here. For a long time, Vredeoord remained a private office park, inaccessible to the public, but nowadays it is a lively neighbourhood with lots of greenery and a perfect location.
The residential building is known in Eindhoven as the VS building, which dates back to when the office building was in use by Philips (The ‘V’ stands for the Vredeoord area and the ‘S’ for the alphabetical order in which the building was realized within the business campus of Philips).
